Frequently Asked Questions


Our Reception will be closed on Christmas Day. If you have a booking to arriving on 25th December we will contact you with instructions for self-check-in.

If you arrive without a booking on that day unfortunately we won’t be able to host you.

Additional things to know:

  • Guests checking into the Park will know where their details can be found.
  • If you do not have a pre-arranged booking to check-in on Christmas Day (which was pre-arranged before 8pm on Christmas Eve) we will not be able to host you this time. However, Albert Town Campground is a first come, first served basic campground. Payment is made by cash or using the card machine at the entrance.
  • Laundry tokens, new bath towels/tea towels and toilet rolls can be collected at Reception on the 24th or the 26th.
  • The spa will be closed on Christmas Day.
  • The rubbish will not be emptied on Christmas Day but will be fully emptied on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day around lunchtime (more if necessary). If you can, keep any rubbish and recycling until Boxing Day.
  • The facilities will be cleaned on Christmas Day and checked sporadically.

Outside the peak periods we generally have excellent availability and bookings aren’t required unless you intend to arrive after our office hours or if you have any special requests.

The one exception is if you intend to arrive on Christmas Day. You must book in advance so we can arrange self-check-in for you as the Reception will be closed. 

No, our sites are all the same price.

 Standard Cancellation and Refund Policy

  • Should you cancel more than 14 days prior to arrival a $10 cancellation fee will be charged.
  • Cancellations within 14 days of arrival will incur the cost of the first night’s accommodation plus a $10 cancellation fee.
  • Any refund due will be refunded using the payment method originally used to book the accommodation.
  • Full Payment is due on arrival for ALL bookings.
  • After arrival, no refunds are given for any changes. I.e., If fewer guests stay or if you leave early, including for bad weather, personal problems, or eviction.
  • We do not hold credit.
  • If you need to alter your booking the first change is free. Subsequent changes will be charged a $10 administration fee.
  • COVID -19 – our regular cancellation policy applies. If you are in Level 3 or 4 where travel is prohibited only the minimum cancellation fee of $10 will be incurred regardless of how imminent your booking is.

   Covid-19 Cancellation Policy

All guests affected by Covid-19 can keep the booking in credit for use at a later date.

  • You have up until the original arrival date to cancel the booking and change it to credit.
  • Credit expires 12 months after cancellation.
  • If you wish to cancel, our cancellation policy in this situation is as follows:

Level 3 and 4 Lockdown cancellations

If you are forced to cancel due to Lockdown travel restrictions (e.g. you are in a Level 3 or 4 Lockdown area) you have the option to take a full refund minus a $10 admin fee.

Level 2 and 1 Lockdown cancellations

If you choose to cancel a booking but you are still able to travel (e.g. you are in a Level 1 or 2 area) the normal cancellation policy applies.

Check-in is from 2.00pm onwards and check-out time is 10.00am. 

If you are arriving after the Reception office closes you must make a booking in advance so we can provide instructions to carry out a self-check-in.

We have some sites that have a view of the lake. These are sold on a first come, first served basis – you can request a lakeview at the time of booking and we will do our best to accommodate. The other sites have lovely views of the surrounding mountains and scenery!

Yes, room bookings require a minimum age of 25 years and site bookings require a minimum age of 21 years. Exceptions are families travelling together.

We don’t allow dogs during peak periods. Outside of that it is best to contact our Reception to confirm whether dogs are allowed for your booking dates – info@wanakalakeview.co.nz. If guests are travelling with a dog they must mention this at the time of booking.

All our sites are approx. 7 metres wide by 10 metres long. They are mostly powered sites and we do have some hard-standing sites but the majority are grass. 


Yes we have free, unlimited wifi throughout the Park.

Showers do not cost extra, they are included in the price and are not limited.

No, guests need to bring all their own kitchenware. Our kitchen includes ovens, gas hobs, microwaves, toasters and Fridge/freezers.

The spa can be booked on the day with our Reception staff. You are provided with a personal pin code for your chosen time slot. The spa opens at 12:30pm and closes at 8pm.

The laundry machines work using tokens which can be purchased from Reception.

We do have BBQs which take $1 coins and run for approx.. 15 minutes.

It is a ten-minute stroll to the town centre.

We don’t have a shuttle from the Park into town. It is a pleasant 10-minute walk along Pembroke Park into town. There are also a couple of excellent taxi services available in Wanaka if needed.

We don’t hire bikes at the Holiday Park but our Reception staff can recommend great bike hire spots in town, just a ten minute walk away.

There is no shop or restaurant on site. There is a New World supermarket and lots of choice of bars and restaurants in the town centre, a ten-minute walk or two-minute drive away.
